2009 Racing recap and hopefully, more to come -- SOON ! !

 Sunday, October3th

Well, can you beleave it, the 2009 racing season is finally over. Well, sort of. But we will talk and explain more about that in a few.

This season has been the most competive, and honered season we have had. Before the season even began, Eyan and Kris had set goals to work towards. With the combination of their determination and all of our hard work, their goals were not only done, but were supassed, with both driver's claiming mutiple Championships.

Begining with Eyan. 2009 was his second full season in the Jr Champ Kart class. His Dad, (TJ), Grandpa Curtis (Bob), and Eyan set their goal to finish at the head of his class in 2009 and to win some Feature races. Well, he did. In total, Eyan won four Feature races, including two SKKS Point Series Features. As for Championships, he claimed the SKKA Wellington Track Championship, as well as the Overall Winfield Fairgrounds Speedway Track Championship. Also Eyan finished 2nd in the Southern Kansas Karting Series, which included 4 races at Wellington and 4 races at Winfield. Eyan's total finishes for 2009 were: 4- 1st, 2- 2nd, and 3- 3rds.

After taking about an 10 year break from racing karts, Kris started the 2009 racing season with a BANG! At the first race for the SKKS he completely blew his engine during "Hot Laps". At the 2nd race of the series, Kris and his #7 went on a rampage by that night and the next two feature races, as well. By the time the series reached the final 8th race, Kris had clinched the Adult Econo class Championship. Besides winning the SKKS Championship, he also swepted the both Track Championships at Wellington and Winfield. Kris's total finishes for the season were: 4- 1st, 2- 2nd, 2- 3rd.

Travis Bellew joined the team at mid season and proved to be competitive with a third, a couple of 4th's and a season ending 2nd place finish.

And after a 2 1/2 year lay-off, Grandpa Curtis (Bob) climbed back in behind the wheel to run in 5 Adult Econo race events, claiming a 1st, a 2nd, 2- 4ths. At the final SKKS Point Series race held at Wellington, Bob was running 3rd. (Started 8th in a field of 11 karts) With only 3 laps to go, Bob drove underneath another driver entering turn 1, to take 2nd place. Being over eager in wanting to try and catch the first place kart for the win, Bob spun the overtaking kart. The race was cautioned and Bob had to restart at the rear of the field. With only 3 laps remaining, he did pass three karts and recorded a 7th place finish.

Next on the schedule is the Awards Banquet for the Wheatland karting Association and the Southern Kansas Karting Series. As far as racing, Bob has been keeping in touch with indoor track located just south of Stillwater, Oklahoma. As for now, plans are to hopefully travel down that away, in December, January, and Febuary.

So, with the upcoming Winter almost up on us, besure to keep warm and keeping checking ack to see what we are up too.
